The Values behind Purple Robot

Purple Robot has established a set of values which play a key part of the Purple Robot ethos, which is an important part of our identity as a business. Each of the team has played a role in building these values and they represent the team and the business.

Team

Each member of the Purple Robot team has a vital part to play to ensure the business is a success. But we also want to make sure our team members are integral to the business. Everyone plays a part in shaping the business’ vision and strategy providing transparency and shared purpose from the team.

We also want our team to continually develop and we aim to spend 5% of our time on training and development each week, ensuring growth for all the team.
When we are able to work together, it also feels more like a community rather than just an office where you come to work. Being there for each other and sharing a joke over a coffee is part of the work experience we are missing right now and we are very much looking forward to working together in our new Work Hub soon.

Environment

As a company, we are aware of the impact we have on the environment. We are always looking at ways in which we can reduce the impact we have on our planet such as decreasing waste, increasing recycling, reducing plastic, and sourcing sustainable, recycled or organic products where possible.
Our long term prospect of a split office-based /home-working system is just one of the ways in which we are looking ahead to new ways to minimise our footprint.

Ethics

We love working with and supporting local businesses to fly the Lincolnshire flag. It is also important to be supportive of SMEs who help our local economy thrive and of start-up businesses who are at the beginning of their journey.
Purple Robot is also a proud signee of the Lincoln Social Responsibility Charter, a recognition from the City of Lincoln Council that we are a socially responsible organisation.

We are also aware of the inequality and discrimination that suffered by many here and across the world. We have been delighted to march in the Lincoln Pride parade with our families in support of LGBT+ rights and members of our team are also Ambassadors for JustLincolnshire, a local equality and diversity charity.

Community

As proud Lincolnshire Yellowbellies, we have a passion for giving back our community. Whether we are giving our own time to giving back, or committing time or resources from the business, supporting our local area is important to us.

This has ranged from delivering hot chocolates to our fellow Chamber tenants on ‘Blue Monday’ and ice lollies in a heatwave when the air conditioning broke down in an effort to raise spirits of those around us, to working with the Chamber and tenants to collect food for the local foodbanks at Christmas.

Charity

Purple Robot has committed to raising awareness and money for good causes. This has ranged from joining in collective national fundraising events such as Red Nose Day and Christmas Jumper Day to focusing on an individual cause.

Each year, we choose a Charity of the Year to support, raising money and awareness for either a local charity or a charity with a connection to the team. Since starting our Charity of Year, we have supported NOFAS-UK and ChILD, raising money for them with our mammoth 12-hour 80’s Danceathon and long-distance cycle rides in the C2C2C.

This year, we are proud to support Counselling and Support for Young People (CASY). CASY is a local charity based in Newark but supporting young people across Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire to improve their mental and emotional wellbeing. They provide counselling to young people and emotional wellbeing workshops in schools aimed at improving emotional resilience.

With the challenging times we are facing, looking after our mental health is critical and we wanted to support a cause focusing on this area for 2021. You can find out more about CASY and the work they do by visiting their website here.

By setting these values together as a team alongside shaping the vision and strategy, each of us is committed to the success of Purple Robot as a business, but also one with a core ethos of togetherness, community and responsibility at its heart.
